Cat Had Kitten Before Standoff With Owners In Stamford, 911 Call Reveals

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The cat involved in a three-hour standoff with its Stamford owners that led to a 911 call seeking police help had given birth to a kitten the day before, according to NBC Connecticut

As Daily Voice reported this week, the Stamford man called 911 at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday seeking help after his 7.5-pound cat attacked and bit him, leaving him and his wife fearful of re-entering their house.

“I cannot go inside in my home,” the man can be heard saying on the 911 call. “The problem is my cat was getting too aggressive. I was inside and she attacked me, and she scratched me in my leg and bit me. So me and my wife, we come outside and now we cannot go in the home like for three, four hours."

The dispatcher said, “This is, you said a cat?” and asked what the man wanted police to do. He said he wanted police to come and remove his cat, according to NBC Connecticut. "It’s so aggressive and so mean," the man told the dispatcher.

The man explained the cat had given birth to a kitten the night before but became aggressive later, NBC Connecticut said

Sgt. Kelly Connelly told Daily Voice that the standoff had lasted more than three hours.

Eventually, the man mustered up enough courage to walk past the ferocious feline and into the residence, she said.

Police advised both parties to stay away from each other for the remainder of the night, Connelly said.

The cat's owner told CBS New York that he, the cat and the kitten are all fine now, and he is still unsure why the cat behaved so aggressively that night.
