Cheftini Shares Cooking Tips With Seniors In Bronxville

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Tina DiLeo, Cheftini and Biscotina representative, says she started cooking when she was very young, when her Italian mother began teaching her. Now, she is a cook, baker, food enthusiast and blogger. She plans to share her tips and talent by offering a free cooking class for the senior citizens who live at Gramatan Village in lower Westchester, where she also resides.

“I am honored to be a part of this program to provide cooking instruction and demonstration to help the seniors prepare easy meals, as well as educating them on how to make nutritious meals at home,” DiLeo said. “Many seniors feel overwhelmed with complicated recipes, so I have designed an easy menu so they can cook for just one or two people, without using too many ingredients.”

The classes are being sponsored by the Junior League in Bronxville. At 1 p.m. Sept. 23, Cheftini will feature a “Mediterranean Feast” at the Tuckahoe Senior Center, 125 Wallace St. The menu will include foods prepared using olive oil, lemon juice and garlic.

Those who participate can sample food and take home copies of the recipes. The event is free, but reservations are required. To register, call Gramatan Village at 914-337-1338 or email to info@gramatanvillage.com.
