BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Concordia College Clippers womens’ tennis team has been chosen unanimously in a poll of nine head coaches as the preseason favorite to lead the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The Clippers, who are looking to capture their third straight regular-season championship, finished the 2010 season with an 18-3 overall record, including a perfect 8-0 CACC record. Concordia went on to win its second straight CACC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals, losing to eventual national champion Barry University.

In the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released on May 25, Concordia was ranked No. 26 in the nation and second in the East Division among NCAA Division II teams.

Clippers’ junior Yuliya Plevako was ranked No. 7 in singles in the East Region and was also ranked No. 1 in doubles with Ola Roberts, who graduated this past May. The Clippers will open up their 2011-12 campaign on the road against Caldwell on Sept. 7 with the home opener on Sept. 10 against Holy Family.
