Joseph Russo, 49, allegedly possessed numerous unauthorized prescriptions bearing theforged signature of a physician falsely listing the defendant or the defendant’s wife as the patient, the district attorney said.
The defendant then allegedly submitted the forged prescriptions a 5 different pharmacies in Mount Vernon in order to obtain at least 1,470 Hydrocodone pills, the district attorney said.
The alleged fraud came to light when the insurer, Express Scripts, became suspicious and contacted police.
Russo is scheduled to appear in court again on Aug. 6. He faces a maximum of seven years in prison if convicted, the district attorney said.
