The agreement calls for the Town of Eastchester to operate Scout Field as a licensee of the county, responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the park.
Under a separate agreement between the town and the village, Bronxville will continue recreational sports programing there including youth soccer leagues and soccer, football, baseball and cross country running for the Bronxville School District.
“Scout Field has been part of family life in Bronxville for decades and, under this agreement, the county ensures that it will continue to be the center of youth recreation in the village for many years to come,” Astorino said in a statement. “This is another example of how working together with our local governments through shared costs and services can benefit our taxpayers.”
The county has agreed to a $600,000 capital investment that will pay for a new grass soccer field and an improved irrigation system. Additional capital construction costs for a reconfigured entrance, parking area, and road resurfacing will be borne by the town of Eastchester.
The agreement must be approved by the Board of Legislators. Gordon Burrows, who represents Bronxville, said he expected the agreement to be approved without objection.
