EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The Town of Eastchester has recommended that there be no trick-or-treating Wednesday evening due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Instead of celebrating Wednesday night, officials suggest children and families trick-or-treat on Saturday, Nov. 3, provided Con Edison has made significant progress in recovery efforts.
Officials ask that trick-or-treating take place during daylight hours, and that parents supervise children at all times. Trick-or-treaters should avoid blocks without street lights and with downed wires and trees, dark houses, barricades, caution tape and other safety devices.
The town cautions that Halloween trick or treating may not even be possible Saturday if the town has not sufficiently recovered.
