STONY POINT, N.Y. Police have confirmed that the body found in the Hudson River on Monday afternoon was that of Eastchester landscaper Frank Forgione, who disappeared early on Thursday.
According to published reports, Forgione, 60, has been missing since dining at an Armonk restaurant. He was last seen at approximately 2 a.m. near exit three on Interstate 684. Police found his 1992 black Lexus near the shore in Stony Point where the body was discovered.
The family established a Facebook page to help find where Forgione may have disappeared. Late on Monday night, they confirmed that the body in the river was his.
To all our family, friends and new friends As you know, our beloved Frank has been found, although not the way we had hoped, Karen Gizzo Campanile said. On behalf of the Forgione family, we cant express how much your help, your prayers and support has meant during these last few days. We truly appreciate all that has been done.
The police have informed the family that the body has been identified through DMV photos by the police, who then informed the family that the body was his. The autopsy is scheduled for today. According to reports, the body was initially found by photographers taking pictures along the shore near Jones Point.
There has been an outpouring of support for the Forgione family around Westchester County and on the Facebook page.
