WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Westchester students in grades six through 12 can win season passes to Playland Amusement Park by maintaining at least a 95 percent grade average or perfect attendance for the entire 2012-2013 school year, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino announced.
Students can sign up for the first Astorino Challenge in Education on the county website with the permission of their parents. Schools will have to confirm that students met one or both of the requirements.
“The ACE challenge is just a little incentive for our kids to let them know we’re thinking about them as the school year begins and encouraging them to do their very best in the classroom,” Astorino said. “My message to students is that you can be whatever you want to be in life, but your success starts with a well-rounded education. That is why every day in school, it’s important to work hard and learn everything you can.”
The season passes to Playland, sponsored by the county Youth Bureau, include free admission to the park and unlimited rides between June 2013, when the passes will be issued, and September 2013, when the Playland season ends.
“We set the bar high to win this challenge,” Astorino said in a statement. “We want the students to strive to do their very best.”
