Fight Erupts As Senate Names State Amphibian

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The New York State Senate adopted the wood frog as the state amphibian, but the measure didn't pass without some controversy, according to the Albany Times Union.

The disagreement began when Syracuse Republican John De Francisco brought the measure to the floor when Manhattan Democrat Liz Krueger thought it more important to discuss rent and housing regulations, the Times Union reported. 

The battle over the importance of the bill continued, before finally passing 32-31, the Times Union said.
