All 27 Thruway service areas are taking part between 11 p.m. Wednesday night and 7 a.m. Thursday morning.

Local stops offering the free beverages are Ardsley between Exits 6A at the Yonkers Toll Barrier and Exit 7 in Ardsley, along with the Sloatsburg/Ramapo rest stops for those traveling on I-87 north and at milepost 33 near Woodbury, N.Y., for those traveling south.

“This New Year’s Eve tradition, in collaboration with Thruway service area operators, is a great way to encourage motorists to take a break during their travels and to help encourage safe driving during the holiday season,” said Thruway Authority Executive Director Thomas J. Madison.

“It is vital for motorists to stay sober, avoid drowsy driving and use caution not only during the holidays, but throughout the year.”

Operators participating in the free-coffee program are McDonald’s Corporation, Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, and HMS Host Corporation.
