TUCKAHOE, N.Y. Tuckahoe Village Trustee Janette Hayes said she will seek a full term on the Tuckahoe Village Board in March.
"I have been extremely busy and working hard since my appointment to the village board in May of 2011 and plan on seeking the nomination of the Republican Party to run for a full two-year term," Hayes said on Wednesday.
Hayes said that since being appointed, her special project has been preparing and distributing two editions of a village-wide newsletter, which she created. She also arranged for and coordinated meetings between village condo and co-op associations and boards and residential building owners and managers in an effort to further expand communication, ideas and suggestions.
Hayes said she has been involved with numerous village events, including the summertime fireworks event, 35th Annual Tuckahoe Challenge Road Race and Winterfest Weekend, to name a few. Now, she said, she is tackling the village finances.
"Most recently I have begun a preliminary review of our village finances as we head into the fourth and final quarter of 2011-12 and begin to prepare for the economic budget challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead in 2012 -13," Hayes said. "Above all, I look forward to continuing to work hard on behalf of the residents of Tuckahoe."
