Sidney Brown, 51, of High Street in Mount Vernon, was charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, one count of stalking in the first degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of aggravated harassment relating to the attempted murder of Deborah Henry.
“This indictment outlines a frightening course of escalating violence by the defendant including constant harassment, intimidation and stalking. Ultimately the defendant waited for the victim at a commuter train station and attacked her in full view of numerous witnesses, if it wasn’t for the intervention of several good Samaritans, the outcome would have been much worse,” said DiFiore.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 8, the defendant accosted Henry and stabbed her repeatedly in the neck, torso, back and thigh in the parking lot of the Irvington Metro-North Rail Road station, the DA said.
The attack was witnessed by numerous bystanders and the Irvington fire chief, Chris DePaoli, who intervened.
The case was adjourned to Aug. 13.
Brown faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.
