MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Supervisor Joan Maybury and her Republican team are running away in Mount Pleasant.

With 71 percent of the vote counted, Maybury leads third-party candidate Anthony D'Aria, 83 percent to 17 percent.

Maybury was appointed supervisor in 2009.

A week before the election, D'Aria was arrested for vouching for false signatures on his petition.

D'Aria was running with John Casario, who was running for a seat on the town board. Casario was opposing Republican incumbent Denis McCarthy and newcomer Laurie Smalley.

McCarthy and Smalley have 48 and 44 percent of the vote, respectively, so far, while Casario has eight percent.

Pat Brennan Scova ran unopposed for town clerk, Peter Sciliano ran unopposed for superintendent of highways and Vicki Anderson ran unopposed for receiver of taxes.
