NYC Man Wanted in Tuckahoe Arrested on Warrant

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – A New York City man wanted in Tuckahoe for failure to appear in court was arrested on a warrant and returned April 19 to the village.

Melsun Simmons, 22, of New York City was arrested April 19 by New York City police and handed over to Tuckahoe at 1:16 a.m. Simmons had been charged with grand larceny, a felony, in Tuckahoe, but had failed to show up for his court date, according to Tuckahoe Police Lt. Ray Stabile. Following his return to Tuckahoe, Stabile said, Simmons was remanded to Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Also on the Tuckahoe police blotter from April 19 to 24:

Car bashed: A caller said she parked her 2007 Audi A4 on Wallace Street at 7 p.m. Monday and, at 6:38 a.m., found all her car windows had been smashed. Nothing was reported taken and, Stabile said, the Audi was the only vehicle in the area that was damaged.

Car burglary: An Oakland Avenue caller told police at 7:42 a.m. on April 20 that both her family's cars had been entered overnight. Nothing was taken from one, and $3 in change was taken from the other.

Pot possession: A driver was stopped at 9:55 p.m. April 19 on Main Street after running a stop sign, Stabile said. The officer smelled marijuana and, under questioning, the driver produced a small bag of the substance. The driver was not found to be under the influence, Stabile said, and was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.
