PELHAM, N.Y. — Pelham police found a gun determined to be stolen from Pennsylvania when they found a man sitting inside a car on the 100 block of Corlies Avenue at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, according to an email from the village government.

Police do not know whether the man is the same person who has robbed three people while walking home from the Pelham Metro-North train station since January and committed robberies of a similar nature in the village of Mamaroneck, the town of Mamaroneck, Harrison and New Rochelle. Police believe the crimes are connected.

“It's too early to say with any degree of certainty that this person is the same person who has committed three robberies of residents walking home from the Pelham train station,” said the email. “Rest assured that our investigation is moving forward and we continue to work hand-in-hand with detectives from both the Harrison and Mamaroneck Police departments.”

The email told Pelham residents that the “Pelham Police department will keep you posted as to whether or not this person is the one who is responsible for those robberies,” but also urged caution.

“Everyone should continue to practice safe walking habits and maintain vigilance and alertness when walking, especially at night,” the email said.

A phone call to a Pelham detective was unreturned as of this article's publishing.
