SCARSDALE, N.Y. The Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service's annual Gourmet Galaxy fundraiser will pay tribute to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Sheryl WuDunn and feature food from about two dozen Westchester County restaurants.
Gourmet Galaxy will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Westchester Country Club in Rye.
Scarsdale and Eastchester restaurants join several other area eateries in the lineup. An American Bistro, Anna Maria's Restaurant, Chat American Grill, Chat 19, Eastchester Fish Gourmet, Lusardi's and Moscato will participate, along with The 808 Bistro, Caffe Azzurri, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Kirari and Niko's Greek Taverna. Back for a second year are Benjamin Steakhouse, Turkish Meze and ZaZa Restaurant, and, making their event debut this year are Bistro Latino, Club Car Café, Enzo's, Noodle+, Pagoda, Standing Room Only and The Tap House.
There will be dessert offerings from La Renaissance and Lulu Cake Boutique, and from newcomers Imagine Candy and Patisserie Salzburg.
The evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, at which time a silent auction will open. The program will begin at 8 p.m.
WuDunn will receive Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service's "Open Door Award" for raising global awareness of women's issues. She is a business executive, entrepreneur and mother of three. She is a best-selling author. Her latest book, "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," was co-authored with her husband, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. It focuses on the challenges facing women around the globe and the struggle for gender equality.
Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service offers youth services, older adult services, couple and family counseling and family life education.
