TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Transformer problems in Tuckahoe have caused a few additional power outages, although they have been identified and isolated, Mayor Steven Ecklond said late Wednesday.
Power has been restored to much of the village – just 475 Con Edison customers were without power – and the bulk of the remaining problems had been recognized.
Ecklond worked with Department of Public Works teams and a Con Edison representative to determine the source of problem for residents.
The transformer issues are affecting both sides of Highview Avenue, between Lincoln and Benedict Avenues; Henry Street between Fulling Avenue and Winter Hill Road; and Marbledale Road, between Lincoln and Stewart Avenues.
Additionally, the south side of Underhill Street, between Wallace and North High Streets, is without power. Outside of these areas, there are several single-home outages as a result of service wires that were knocked down.
Any resident who has lost power must notify Con Edison at the website or call 1-800-75-CONED. Residents are also asked to email addresses to secklond@tuckahoe-ny.com so he can relay the information to the Con Edison representative working within Tuckahoe.
“Even though Tuckahoe has been fortunate to have fewer power outages than our neighboring communities, I recognize that this is no consolation to those who are without heat and electricity,” he said. “The entire Village Board and I are committed to keeping the pressure on until we achieve full power restoration.”
