Walmart, Sears Pull Confederate Flag Merchandise

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Retailers Walmart and Sears will remove all merchandise from their stores that contain the Confederate flag, according to CNN.

Both companies made their announcements after public outcry to have the flag removed from government buildings exploded in the wake of the fatal shooting in an African American church in Charleston, S.C., CNN reported. 

Nine people were killed in the shooting and the man in custody for the incident, Dylann Roof, reportedly said he had hoped to start a race war, CNN said.
