EASTCHESTER, N.Y. — Westchester County spent one of its final days of 2012 officially welcoming in winter, as the region was hit with a blustery combination of high winds and snow this past weekend.
The storm caused little concern however, as local police reported no problems related to the storm. In addition, Consolidated Edison, the utility responsible for all electricity in Westchester County, reported only sporadic power issues throughout Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, a wind advisory will remain in effect for Westchester County until 6 p.m. Winds could be expected to reach 30 miles per hour, with stronger gusts of between 40-50 mph expected later in the day.
A wind advisory is issued when periods of sustained high winds can make travel difficult, according to the service.
New Year's Eve Day is expected to be sunny with clouds, with a high of 36 degrees with winds up to 15 mph. The low on New Year's Eve is expected to be a cloudy 31 degrees and winds up to 14 mph. New Year's Day is expected to be sunny with clouds with a high of 35 degrees and winds up to 12 mph. The low is expected to be 22 degrees with winds at 7 mph.
