HARTSDALE, N.Y. – Kara Fragola, a Brewster resident and senior at Maria Regina High School in Hartsdale, was selected as one of 12 seniors at local Catholic high schools to meet Pope Francis during his American visit.
Fragola's father was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, and she's hoping to get a chance to speak to the Pope.
“…if I could, I would like ask the pope if he could just maybe say a prayer for my father. It would just mean the world to me,” she says.
Fragola will meet the Pope on Sept. 25, as part of his visit to Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem.
The New York Archdiocese picked students for their academic achievements and active participation in campus ministry and community service programs.
