Goodell has maintains that neither he, nor anyone else in the league had seen the video prior to its release by TMZ on Monday, Sept. 8, but reports surfaced Wednesday, Sept. 10, to suggest that law enforcement sent the video to NFL officials well before Goodell handed down Rice's two-game suspension in July, the Times reported.

The release of the second video that shows Rice knocking his wife unconscious in an Atlantic City casino elevator prompted the Baltimore Ravens to Terminate his contract. Goodell later suspended Rice indefinitely. the league's response, however, has not stopped critics and advocacy groups from calling for Goodell's ouster, the Times said.
