Eastchester Firefighters Register For National Bone Marrow Registry

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Several probationary firefighters from Yonkers and other career departments from Westchester registered Dec. 9 for the National Bone Marrow Registry.

The other departments were Hartsdale, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Eastchester, Lake Mohegan, Scarsdale, Rye and Fairview. The 25 probies took part at the Westchester Fire Training Academy in Valhalla. There is also a class of recruits from other career departments in Westchester that will be taking part in this program. The program assists people with leukemia and other blood disorders, as well as sickle cell anemia.
