EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Achille D. "Gil" Aliberto, 91, of Eastchester, died Saturday, June 13.
Born June 25, 1923, he was a son of Alfonso and Antoinette DeMatteo Aliberto of Tuckahoe.
Aliberto served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He then worked for the Eastchester Fire Department, rising to the rank of assistant chief. He retired in 1985 after 32 years of service.
Survivors include four daughters, Agnes Aliberto, Antoinette (Michael) Martino, Angela (Michael) DiStasi, and Jacqueline Bellantoni; one son, Gil (Lori) Aliberto; one brother, Anthony Aliberto; one sister, Linda (Michael) Verde; one brother-in-law, Joseph Tedeschi; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His wife, Agnes Aliberto; one daughter, Christine Walter; one son-in-law, Louis Bellantoni; one sister, Nancy Tedeschi; and one sister-in-law, Nancy Aliberto, preceded him in death.
Calling hours are 4-8 p.m., Monday, and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Westchester Funeral Home , 190 Main St., Eastchester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Assumption Church, 100 Pleasant Ave., Tuckahoe.
Interment will follow in the Holy Mount Cemetery, 53 Winterhill Road, Tuckahoe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation , 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
