Anna Bonci, 97, Of Tuckahoe

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Anna Bonci, a lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, died on Feb. 20. She was 97.

Bonci was born in Yonkers to Joseph and Mary Sokol on July 23, 1917. She married Marcillio Bonci on April 19, 1936.

Bonci is survived by her sons, John and his wife Marguerite of Brewster, Alexander and his wife, Linda of Eastchester, daughter-in-law Toni of Tuckahoe, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, her sister Margaret Percio and sisters-in-law Yoko and Nicolina Sokol.

She is predeceased by her husband, a son Edward, sisters Pauline Norman, Mary Stafko, Irene Detz and brothers Vincent and Joseph Sokol.

She worked for many years as a matron for the Villages of Tuckahoe and Bronxville, a crossing guard at St. Joseph's School in Bronxvile and at the rectory at St. Joseph's Church.

Visiting hours are at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester on Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville on Thursday, at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
