Berardino 'Toots' Carapella, 95, Tuckahoe Resident

TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Berardino "Toots" Carapella, a lifelong resident of Tuckahoe, died Tuesday, April 5. He was 95.

He was born Sept. 13, 1920, in Tuckahoe, to Pasquale and Quindalina (Consorte) Carapella. 

He graduated from Tuckahoe High School and served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific from 1942-46. He worked on the assembly line at General Motors in North Tarrytown (now Sleepy Hollow) for 35 years.

He is survived by his sister, Lillian Carapella; and brother, Alfred (Reva) Carapella.

He was predeceased by s sister, Elizabeth; and brothers, John and Victor.

Visitation is Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc., 190 Main St., Tuckahoe. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Apeil 8, at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption Church, Tuckahoe. Interment to follow at Holy Mount Cemetery, Eastchester.
