Daniel S. Fruchter, 95, Of Eastchester, Hospital CEO, Pearl Harbor Survivor

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. — Daniel S. Fruchter, of Eastchester, died March 7. He was 95.

Fruchter was born Aug. 10, 1918, in New York City to Dora and Philip Fruchter. A graduate of New York University and Syracuse University, he had a 45-year career in hospital administration, including 24 years as CEO of Union Hospital in the Bronx, until his retirement in 1989. A veteran of WWII and survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, in retirement he was a dedicated volunteer at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in N.Y.

Fruchter is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Anker); sons Philip and Gary; daughter-in-law Mareanne; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services are Monday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at Sinai Free Synagogue, 550 N. Columbus Ave., in Mt. Vernon. Burial follows at at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla.
