Ex-Marine Dusty Rhodes, Owner Of Westchester Martial Arts School, Dies

Westchester native and Pawling resident Dusty Rhodes, the owner of a martial arts school for more than 20 years, died on Tuesday, April 10 after battling cancer. He was 49.

Dusty was born on May 16, 1968 in New Rochelle to the late Peter and Grace (Lofaro) Rhodes.

He was a chef at Juliano's Caterers in New Rochelle for many years and was the proprietor of Rhodes Kajukenbo Karate & KajuPit NY MMA in New Rochelle since 1995. He served in the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991 and saw active duty during Desert Storm. He was an avid fundraiser for St. Children’s Hospital. He was a mentor to many in New Rochelle. He was a big game hunter.

He is survived by his wife Pamela; his siblings: Peter, Patricia, Deneen, and Michael; his mother-in-law Indra. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held Friday, April 13 at Holy Name Church in New Rochelle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory Dusty Rhodes Kajukenbo Karate & KajuPit NY.
