Lucy Pagliaroli Kafer, Longtime Tuckahoe Resident, 96

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- Lucy Pagliaroli Kafer, a longtime Tuckahoe resident, died Saturday, Jan. 24. She was 96. 

Kafer was born in Tuckahoe on Oct. 29, 1918, to Maria and Vincenzo Pagliaroli.

Kafer graduated from Tuckahoe High School and worked several jobs during World War II. She met the love of her life, Peter, while working at Eastern Metals, and they were married on July 4, 1953.

Kafer lived in West Harrison, where she worked as a school aide for Preston School for more than 20 years, while being involved in many community activities. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and the Ava Maria Guild. For many years she worked at their Festa and other activities, bringing her sense of humor and laughter.

She was predeceased by her husband Peter.

She is survived by her son, Paul and his wife Lisa of Carrollton, Va; and stepsons, Ron and wife Sonja of Owensboro, Ky., and Peter of Edmonton, Ky.; and grandchildren, Tara and wife Lisa Deeter, Andrew, Gary, Lindsey, Nicholas and wife Suzanne, Logan, and Matthew. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Stepe and Flora Farella; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 29, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held celebrated Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
