EASTCHESTER, N.Y. Margaret "Peggy" C. Reid, a former Eastchester resident, died July 18. She was 82.
Reid was born Nov. 20, 1929 in Bronxville to William and Mary O'Brien Hunter. She married Arthur J. Reid Sr. on Sept. 8, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe. Reid was most recently a resident of Southbury, Conn.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur; three sons, Arthur J. (Julie) Reid Jr., David (Mary Beth) Reid and Edward Reid; two daughters, Barbara (Frank) Cantatore and Marilyn Reid; a son-in-law, Gary Davis Sr.; a sister, Ann Blum; two brothers, Robert and James Hunter; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Reid was predeceased by a son, William Reid; a daughter, Christine Davis; three brothers, John F. Hunter, William R. Hunter Jr. and Charles D. Hunter; and a sister, Mary McGovern.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning at Immaculate Conception Church. Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester was in charge of arrangements.
Reid was an avid reader and her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Literacy Partners Inc., 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
