TUCKAHOE, N.Y. - Rosa G. Solano, a longtime resident of Tuckahoe, died Sept. 21. She was 59.
Solano was born Sept. 24, 1954, to Francesco and Dominga (Prostamo) Vardaro. She was a professor at Iona College and most recently Bronx Community College.
Solano is survived by her husband, Vittorio; children, Rocco Solano (Siomara), Mary Mahon (Brendan), and Marcello Solano (Johanna); mother, Dominga Vardaro; four grandchildren; sisters, Norma Stringi and Susana Minore. She was predeceased by her father, Francesco Vardaro.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. Eastchester. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 24 at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe. Entombment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
