Memorial services have been announced for Pleasantville native, Mahopac resident and former Ossining Union Free School District teacher and varsity coach Bill Casey, who died Friday, April 7 at age 46 after battling cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at St. John’s Church Evangelist Church Mahopac at 11:30 a.m. Family may receive friends at Cargain Funeral Home at 418 Route 6 in Mahopac on Monday, April 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and also Tuesday, April 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. He will be brought to his final resting place following Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery Mount Kisco.

William M. Casey Jr. was born in the summer in 1970 in New York City to William and Mary Ann (Borck) Casey. William Kelly (Gagliardi) on Aug. 10, 2008 overlooking the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, and completed his undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Education at Iona College and Pace University.

He first started his career as a sports reporter covering everything from his favorite team, the NY Yankees, to high school sports for Gannett Suburban Newspaper. He had been employed as a fifth-grade teacher in the Ossining School District since 2000.

He was very passionate about his role as the head varsity baseball coach and was so proud of his team. Bill was an avid sports fan all around, and most enjoyed playing baseball and golf. He will be remembered for his smile, his kindness, his humor, but most of all his love and devotion to his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, a teacher in Bedford Central School District, Bill is survived by his incredibly loving young twins, Connor and Madison. He was the son of William Sr. and Mary Ann Casey, who predeceased him in 2007, and his sister Kimberly Wildey (Antony). He is also survived by his cherished five nieces and nephew Kathryn, Abigail, Michael, Juliana, and Daniela.

In lieu of flowers, the Casey family would like contributions towards Connor and Madison’s education.
