WWII Vet Bill Moye Of New Rochelle Dies At 102

WESTCHESTER COUNTY N.Y. -- William "Bill" Moye, 102, a lifelong New Rochelle resident, died Tuesday.

Born in New Rochelle on March 26, 1915, Moye served in the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Private First Class.

Following the war, became involved with VFW Post 2882 in New Rochelle and served as the chapter's commander, Westchester County commander and district chaplain. 

Moye received an honorary high school diploma from New Rochelle High School at the age of 100 and was inducted into the New York State Senate Veteran's Hall of Fame in 2014. 

He is survived by his sister, Jessie May Kelly, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. July 8 with services following at the Shiloh Baptist Church.
