At approximately noon on Wednesday, Bronxville Det. Sgt. Richard Anderson and Det. Watson Morgan arrested lifetime criminal Aaron Wellington, 25, arresting him for his role in the burglaries of homes on Sunnybrae Place and Homesdale Road in May.
According to police, the burglaries were reported on May 21 last year, prompting Bronxville detectives to investigate the scene, including the processing of DNA evidence. That evidence was then submitted to the Westchester County Department of Laboratories and Research for further examination, leading to a DNA profile match of Wellington, who has been arrested 16 times, and convicted all but thrice.
Wellington was charged with one count each of second-degree and third-degree murder. On Wednesday, he was arraigned by Bronxville Court Justice George McKinnis and remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections. He is due back in court on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
