A seat on the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners carries a five-year term.
The district serves Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe. It is governed by a board of five fire commissioners who are responsible for general administration; the appointment of department personnel, physician, attorney and secretary; and the preparation and adoption of the annual fire district budget after a public hearing.
The fire district election in the past has had less than 4 percent of eligible voters turn out.
The approved 2016 budget for the Eastchester Fire District is $16.5 million, which directly impacts residential tax assessments.
Voting Tuesday is from 2-9 p.m. at the following locations:
Eastchester:
- Eastchester Town Hall, 40 Mill Road for Districts 6, 7, 8, 9, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, 37, 38 and 39
- LeRoy Gregory Post 979, 40 Bell Road, (behind Equinox Gym), Eastchester for Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 23, 27, 29, 34 and 36
- Union Corners Fire Station, 10 Oregon Ave., for Districts 15, 31 and 35
Tuckahoe:
- Tuckahoe Community Center, 71 Columbus Ave., for Districts 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 32 and 33.
Bronxville:
- Bronxville Village Hall, 200 Pondfield Road, for Districts 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 (all Bronxville village).
