According to police, the department recently received a report of a suspicious person, claiming to be a Con Ed representative, soliciting a senior at their residence, regarding the reduction of their energy bill.

Police noted that “it is possible that this was a legitimate representative; however, sometimes it is a ruse to distract a homeowner or perpetuate a scam.”

Homeowners have been advised that if they are solicited by someone suspicious, no information should be shared, and police should be contacted immediately so that officers can investigate the legitimacy of the claims being made.

Anyone who believes they have been solicited by someone suspect can contact police by calling (914) 961-3464.
