Eastchester Firefighters Assist in Mount Vernon Blaze

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – All are accounted for on Monday after a fire severely damaged a South 12th Avenue home and displaced residents living in a pair of homes.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the fire, which is still under investigation, sparked at 13 S. 12th Ave., and also damaged a neighboring home. The Red Cross is responding to assist the 11 displaced residents.

It took firefighters from Eastchester, Pelham, Yonkers and Mount Vernon approximately an hour to have the two-alarm blaze under control.
