Office Jared Shatkin stopped the 1999 Ford Econoline for several violations, Detective Sgt. Jim DePreta told Daily Voice.

Shaktin smelled burnt marijuana while talking with the driver, then discovered a small amount of pot and drug paraphernalia -- as well as two large plastic bladders filled with the cooking oil, DePreta said.

Both men "could not identify where or when the cooking oil was obtained," he said.

It turned out it had been stolen minutes earlier, DePetra said.

The driver, Victor Delacruz, 27, and his 21-year-old passenger, Jose Albornoz, both of Yonkers, were later released on court summonses charging them with receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

"Detectives are working to identify additional oil theft victims," DePreta said.
