At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Monday morning, officers conducting traffic control on Post Road spotted a Honda CRV traveling “at a high rate of speed” on Post Road. During the subsequent stop, patrol officers said that 21-year-old Esteban Dominguez-Heredia told police that he had previously consumed one beer at a restaurant in White Plains before getting in his vehicle.
Police said that “while speaking with the operator, patrol detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the defendant’s breath.” Officers also reported that Dominguez-Heredia’s eyes were “glassy and bloodshot.”
According to police, Dominguez-Heredia failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and an alco-sensor prescreening test performed by officers showed that he had an alleged blood alcohol content of .13 percent, nearly double the legal limit. Dominguez-Heredia was then placed under arrest.
At Scarsdale Police Headquarters, Dominguez-Heredia’s blood alcohol content was confirmed. He was charged with misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent and driving while intoxicated. He was also cited for speeding and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
Dominguez-Heredia was released to the custody of his brother and is due back in Scarsdale Village Court later this year.
