Sidney Brown, 53, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to felony charges of attempted murder and strangulation for the his assault on Deborah Henry of Yonkers less than a year ago.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on April 8 last year, Brown approached his victim in the parking lot of the Metro-North station, where he stabbed her repeatedly in the neck, torso, back and thigh in front of several bystanders, during rush hour - including Irvington Fire Chief Chris DePaoli, who intervened and stopped the attack.

Following the incident, both Brown and Henry - who acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty identified as domestic partners - were admitted to local hospitals. Brown would be discharged from the Westchester Medical Center on April 10, when he was subsequently arraigned in Irvington Village Court.

Upon his arraignment, it was determined that Brown had a number of open arrest and bench warrants in Mount Vernon and Yonkers for domestic violence incidents involving his current wife and other victim.

“This indictment outlines a frightening course of escalating violence by the defendant including constant harassment, intimidation and stalking,” former District Attorney Janet DiFiore, who was initially in charge of the case, said. “Ultimately the defendant waited for the victim at a commuter train station and attacked her in full view of numerous witnesses, if it wasn’t for the intervention of several good Samaritans, the outcome would have been much worse.”
