On Tuesday, acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced that Jason Myers, 33, has been arraigned on murder charges after allegedly killing his victim and dumping her body in the Bronx.

According to McCarty, on Tuesday, Aug. 23, detectives in the Mount Vernon Police Department were contacted by the victim’s family to alert them that she had gone missing under suspicious circumstances.

Three days later, Myers turned himself in at Mount Vernon Police Headquarters, where he confessed to killing his victim and dumping her body in the vicinity of 233rd Street and Monticello Avenue near Seton Falls Park in the Bronx.

The body would be recovered by the New York Police Department, wrapped in plastic bags and a comforter taken from the victim’s residence. It was dumped over a guardrail and down a hill.

An autopsy conducted by the New York City Medical Examiner would eventually conclude that the victim’s cause of death was asphyxia due to a compression of the neck.

Myers pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second-degree murder, first-degree strangulation and concealment of a human corpse. He is due back in court on Tuesday, Nov. 1 where he will face a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
