New York State Police announced Tuesday that Keith Francis, 42, was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and a traffic violation for following too closely after being involved in a crash on Saturday.

According to police, at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, troopers were dispatched to I-287 following multiple reports of a two-vehicle accident on I-287 near exit 9 (Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow).

The police investigation determined that Francis’ Nissan Maxima rear-ended a Honda Accord driving on the roadway. Francis was transported by state police to New Rochelle, where his blood alcohol content was registered at .18 percent, more than double the legal limit.

Francis was eventually turned over to a third party and is due back in court on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
