SCARSDALE, N.Y. - A man from New Jersey was arrested in Scarsdale after driving his truck into a utility pole with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, March 15, police were dispatched to Mamaroneck Road, where there was a reported one vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers spotted a Ford Ranger at rest facing westbound on Mamaroneck Road after striking the pole.

Upon arrival, officers reported that the vehicle’s engine was off and the keys were located in the center console. The driver, Kendall Park resident Glenn Trimpert, was sitting in the drivers seat with glassy, bloodshot eyes and alcohol on his breath, police said.

According to police, when prompted by the officers, Trimpert said he had four beers, and stated he did not know where he drove from, where he consumed the beers or where he was at the time of the conversation. He then failed multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. An also-sensor pre-screening test indicated the presence of alcohol on Trimpert’s breath and he was arrested.

At Scarsdale Police Headquarters, a datamaster test determined that Trimpert’s blood alcohol content was .17, more than double the legal limit. He was charged with misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent. Trimpert was released on $100 bail and is due back in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday, March 22.
