Player Punches Ref In Face At Soccer Game In Westchester, Police Say

A 25-year-old player is due in court Tuesday after punching a referee in the face during a men's soccer game at the Yorktown Sports Complex Sunday afternoon, police said.

Franklin Javier Ordonez Estrada of Peekskill was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree, a Class A misdemeanor, for punching the referee in the face and body, causing bodily harm, police said.

The incident occurred around 3:48 p.m. Sunday at the facility on Navajo Street off Route 6, police said.

Estrada was arrested at the scene, process and arraigned. He is due back in court on Sept. 12.
