Tuckahoe Man ID'd As Suspect In Shooting At Deli Patronized By Clintons

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- A 49-year-old Tuckahoe man has been arrested in connection with Monday morning's shooting by the entrance of Lange's Little Store & Delicatassen in Chappaqua.

The announcement, which came from the town of New Castle, initially named the suspect as Chao Hengjun, although police subsequent confirmed that his name is Hengjun Chao. He was taken into custody at the scene, the announcement said. 

Two people were shot at Lange's and sustained injuries as a result, according to the announcement

"Both victims are being treated at Westchester Medical Center and are expected to survive," the announcement said.. "Preliminary investigation indicates that at least one of the victims may have been known to the suspect."

The announcement, which was posted by New Castle Supervisor Rob Greenstein to his Facebook page, adds that people with information in connection with the shooting should contact New Castle Police, either at 914-238-7295 for the detective's division or at 914-238-4423 for the main desk.

"Residents should be assured that the Town's police officials are working diligently to investigate this morning's tragic shooting at Lange's Deli," Greenstein said in a statement on the Facebook page. "Our Chief of Police, Charles Ferry, will provide additional information as it becomes available, and we will keep residents updated as we learn more about what happened."

Lange's is an institution in Chappaqua, being a popular stop for various residents, notably former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

When Hillary Clinton, who is now the Democratic presidential nominee, launched her campaign in the spring of 2015, her initial ad featured Lange's as one of its sites.
