According to police, Allen Copeland, 17 and Shauntae Aponte, 23, of Mount Vernon, Tara Sumpter, 20, of Hawthorne and Deryck McKenzie Jr. were arrested and charged with a second-degree felony charge of possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property on Saturday after the gun was fired once near the intersection of Colombus Avenue and Main Street.

Police responded to an emergency call in the area shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers from Eastchester and Tuckahoe responded to the scene before stopping a Toyota driven by Copeland. It was then that a handgun, which police said had been stolen three years ago in Arizona, was discovered in the car.

It remains undetermined how the group came into possession of the gun. They were arraigned in Tuckahoe Village Court on Tuesday. All four are due back in court on Sept. 17.
