Eastchester voters overwhelmingly made their voices heard during Tuesday’s Fire District election, with Winter unofficially topping Piliero with 1,100 votes against 468, earning him another five-year term in office following one of the busiest fire district elections in years.

Winter has been on the board for more than a decade, including three years serving as chairman for the district.

In the run up to the election, both Winter and Piliero garnered support from the public, but in the end, Winter’s track record and history managing the Eastchester Fire District’s $16.5 million budget each year pushed him over the top.

The board of fire commissioners meets regularly, governing the fire district that includes Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. They are responsible for the administration of department personnel and adopting the annual budget.
