Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Cornell Street and Weaver Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 5 following reports of the crash, according to a police report released Monday.

Upon arrival at the scene, police said they spoke to the driver, Kelly Christine Wicker, 21, who stated she was driving on Weaver Street, and when she attempted to make a righthand turn onto Cornell Street, she lost control of the vehicle, hopped the curb and came to a rest on a grassy area between a street sign and stop sign.

Police said that while speaking with Wicker, they “noticed an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath and she appeared to have glassy, bloodshot eyes and was acting in a nervous manner.” Officers also noted that she “appeared in a disheveled manner as her pants appeared wet.”

According to police, there were several open beer cans in plain view of the vehicle, sitting in the console’s cup holder. Wicker proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and failed a breathalyzer, with a blood alcohol content that read .235 percent, nearly triple the legal limit.

While in custody, police said that Wicker was under constant supervision due to her “emotional behavior,” as she “continually cried throughout the whole arrest process and was uncooperative at times.” Wicker was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated for driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent. She was also cited for driving with an open container in her vehicle.

Wicker was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.
