On Monday, Yonkers Det. Lt. Patrick McCormack issued an alert asking for anonymous tips as they investigate shootings that took place late on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, a 28-year-old man from Elmsford walked into St. Joseph’s Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to his leg thigh. According to McCormack, the victim became uncooperative with investigators and signed himself out of the hospital.

Less than an hour later, officers were dispatched to Van Cortlandt Park Avenue and Rollins street, where gunshots reportedly rang out. Upon arrival, detectives recovered shell casings but no victim.

The exact location of both incidents are still under investigation.

Shortly before 2 a.m. the next morning, police reported to Schroeder Street for more reports of shots fired, but again found no victims. During a subsequent canvassing of the area, police approached two vehicles where they discovered a firearm in each. The occupants of both cars - one from Yonkers, three from the Bronx - were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Each investigation is ongoing. It is unknown if the incidents are related. Anyone with information can call the Detective Division confidentially at (914) 377-7724. Anonymous tips can also be sent by texting the keyword, plus ypd and the tip to 847411.
