WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. --  Gearing up for a potential all-Westchester New York gubernatorial race between incumbent Andrew Cuomo of New Castle and Rob Astorino of Mount Pleasant?

Not so fast, according to Gov. Cuomo.

Astorino may be campaigning to run against Cuomo in November, but the governor said the Westchester county executive may not even secure the GOP nomination, according to the New York Daily News.

Cuomo recalled during a public radio interview the constant shuffling of GOP nominees four years ago when the GOP first backed Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, then Rep. Rick Lazio, only to have Carl Paladino secure the nomination, the Daily News reported.

Andy might want Rob....might see him as the weakest link.
You do remember the last Westchester Exec who ran & got slaughtered.
Turned out ok for O'Rourke he was rewarded with a Judgeship for being the sacrificial lamb. Perhaps Rob hopes and believes times have changed though.

You've always got my vote Andrew!

How many joints did Mr. Astorino say that he smoked back in college? He must be smoking something pretty strong if he thinks he is going
be come our next governor? Specially, after appointing mary beth murphy to tax commissioner of westchester? While she was supervisor of Somers she over taxed homeowners and businesses, wasted millions of dollars on projects, law firms, over priced consulting
firms, personal expenditures,
new committees, the master plan, and even her forner town board members sued her for selective enforcement, and other constitutional rights violations, and another board member said that she was a liar and ran the town like it was a mafia and not a municipality. She also had political signs removed but she posted her own signs all over town. Do we really need this type of person as commissioner of our taxes? Come on Mr. Astorino you dont really believe that the people are going to vote for u after appointing murphy and admitting your drug usage?

So, 'taxpayers'... who are you voting for?
Do you live in Westchester? Have you paid attention to ANYTHING Astorino has done? You have a problem with him admitting he smoked dope? Did you vote for Bill Clinton or Barack Obama or George Bush? Hope not...
You sound really well-informed. Nice job.

If i were elected governor i would fight day and night for the people and get those taxes lowered ASAP! Id pay for my own vacations and my
Own personal expenses and i would never charge our people a dime for my expenses. These politicians should be ran out of NY.

You really are uninformed, aren't you? Just the way the Dems like 'em. Taxpayers are not footing the bill for Astorino's trips. He has a campaign fund to pay for his campaigning trips.

If you actually do live in Westchester, and think your taxes are too high talk to your local school board about the school taxes, which make up about 70% of the taxes for most Westchester residents. As far as county taxes go Astorino got them under control from day one in office after years of drunken spending by Spano and his ilk.

You are the one who is misinformed, maybe u should take a close look at Astorino'' expenditures that us taxpayers are forced to pay.
Oh, and lets not forget the jobs and raises Astorino gave to his buddies after he got elected.

Astorino reduced the County Executive's staff the moment he took office, including getting rid of the taxpayer paid personal driver (he drives himself to work now). The county tax levy has gone DOWN in the four+ years he has been in office. He has most county employees (including himself) now contributing to their health insurance. He is stopping the bleeding at Playland. The list goes on and on. These are facts, as opposed to your drive by pot shots of flimsy allegations with no facts to back them up.

Well then lets take a look at his personal expenditures that are paid by us taxpayers.
The people should be made a made aware of how much each candate has been spending. Lets compare Cuomo's personal expenditures also.

Notice that neighter politician
ever talk about fighting corruption within our county or state government? I wonder why? Do they cut
taxes or the out of control
spending? No. Do they cut
personal expenditures? No.
Do they help the people who
struggle to make ends meet?
No. People are leaving NYS by the thousands each year.

You probably don't live in Westchester. Astorino has been addressing these items for years.

Addressing these problems but never doing anything about them and nothing for the people.

What has either politician done to cut spending and lower our taxes over the past few years? Nothing ! Instead,
Astorino admitted using
drugs and hires the worst
bureauocrat that wasted
millions of dollars on
unneeded projects, unneeded
studies, an consulting fees,
attorneys fees, and over
taxing the people of heritage
hills and now Astirino has
appointed murphy to be our
countys tax commissioner?
He ssys he has stopped smoking pot? Sure Rob.

Guess Cuomo is still hoping for another GOP nutcase candidate like last time. Sorry King Cuomo, this time around you have a viable, experienced, articulate opponent with real ideas, and he's squeaky clean. You can't dismiss Rob.

Wow. Andy-Boy is really worried about Rob. Astorino beats him because of Cuomo's political and unpopular SAFE Act, people fleeing NY on droves, Cuomo's anti-fracking, and Cuomo's overall corruption (see, HUD in the 1990s).

You are right about that.

Wow. Andy-Boy is really worried about Rob. Astorino beats him because of Cuomo's political and unpopular SAFE Act, people fleeing NY on droves, Cuomo's anti-fracking, and Cuomo's overall corruption (see, HUD in the 1990s).

he's right though, the GOP hasn't stated who their nominee will be
. It really doesn't matter who they put up against Cuomo. Nobody can beat him. He's very popular and has done a lot for NY state

Cuomo is very popular because he's a good speaker, but as for doing a lot for NY State, well, he's done very little. And the little he's done has been damaging.

Rob has no chance.

In other words, what Cuomo is actually saying is .."Please, please, please let it not be Rob Astorino!!"

Andy can hope all he wants but it won't make Rob go away.
