Incumbents Hold Big Leads In NY Governor, AG, Comptroller Races

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The three Democratic incumbents seeking reelection in the gubernatorial, attorney general and comptroller races hold commanding leads over their opponents, according to a new poll by Siena College.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo still enjoys a 21-point lead over Rob Astorino.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's lead over Republican Rob Astorino shrank a bit, but his 21-point lead among likely voters (54-33 percent) is still enormous. Cuomo held a 29-point lead over Astorino in September, the poll said.

“Astorino has narrowed the gap, however, with less than two weeks until Election Day, about three-quarters of Republicans and Astorino voters think that Cuomo will win. It appears that Cuomo simply needs to run out the clock,” Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said in a statement. “Voters are evenly divided about which candidate is running a more negative campaign.”

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman is also enjoying a 20-point lead over challenger and Yonkers native John Cahill.

Schneiderman's commanding lead is due in large part to his dominance over Cahill among female voters. Schniederman leads the Republican challenger by nearly 40 points in the category, Siena College said.

The largest lead goes to incumbent Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who is enjoying a 58-31 percent advantage over challenger Bob Antonacci.
